At Hyde Park Dental we strive to provide optimum dental care for our clients. We understand that each client has unique and different treatment requirements and needs. Therefore, it is our policy and duty of care to insure all our clients are appropriately treatment planned by one of our dentists and all costings are explained to each client at their initial consult visit prior to any treatment being commenced.

An itemized treatment plan with fee estimates is provided to our clients and remains current for 6 months. • At what age should I bring my child to the dentist

Bringing your child to the dentist for the first time is an exciting milestone. Ideally we recommend introducing your child to their first dental visit from at least 12 months of age, or shortly after the eruption of their first baby teeth. An examination at this age will help establish a happy relationship when little or no treatment is necessary.

At Hyde Park Dental we encourage our young families to bring along their child for a short visit to familiarise them with the environment and sounds. A good practice is to allow the little one to see mum, dad or even an older sibling having a fun and safe experience. Even getting them to have a short "Ride in the Chair".

We endeavour to make your young ones first dental visit a fun adventure. The take home pack is always a big hit with each little one receiving a toothbrush, stickers, and a Wiggles Sing A-Long brushing pack.

  • What will my first visit involve?

On arrival to your first visit you will be greeted by one of our friendly front of house staff who will present you with a new client form to fill out in the comfort of our lounge area.

When you meet one of our Dentists Nick or Dan, they will ask you of any specific concerns you may have. A full oral examination is carried out which includes digital radiographs (bitewing x-rays), digital photos, and charting.

A thorough initial consult is 60mins allowing you to get to know us and all relevant records to be recorded. Once your examination is complete our experienced dental assistant will accompany you back to our front of house staff who will process your account and if required present you with a full itemised treatment plan including fees and health insurance item numbers.

This will allow you to make an informed decision in proceeding to make further appointment times.

  • Why see a dental Hygienist?

Dental Hygienists have the education and training to provide individualised oral hygiene care and treatment to prevent dental disease of the mouth, teeth and gums.

The dental hygienist will plan with your dentist an oral health maintenance program including assessment of your teeth and periodontal (gum) tissues, radiographs (xrays) and review of your medical history.

Comprehensive one-on-one instruction includes care for your gums and teeth and information on dietary habits, risk factors and health conditions which may be adversely affecting your oral health and general health.

The dental hygienist will remove plaque and calculus deposits and stains from your teeth and apply fluoride treatments, helping you to improve or maintain your oral health.

Dental disease can occur at any age, therefore treatment and advice from a dental hygienist will benefit everyone.
